LEGO Chima Challenge at Toys R Us

Beginning at the end of December LEGO started releasing their new 2013 sets, including the new LEGO Legends of Chima line. Just yesterday, my daughter pulled out her new LEGO Catalog and is once again reading over it.

On Saturday, Toys R Us will be having a LEGO Chima Challenge and a sneak peek of the new Cartoon Network series "Legends of CHIMA" which will begin airing this summer.

The LEGO Chima Challenge and Cartoon Network Sneak Peek is Saturday, January 26 from noon-2p at your local Toys R Us.

Monster Jam Building Workshops at Lowe's

This spring, Lowe's Build & Grow Projects will feature Monster Jam® vehicles. The Build and Grow Sessions are held at most Lowe's stores at 10a on Saturday mornings.

Saturday, February 23 will feature Grave Digger®.

On Saturday, March 9, kids can build Monster Mutt®.

I took my daughter to a Lowe's Build and Grow event last spring and she really enjoyed it. Monster Trucks are not her thing, so I think we will skip these. I do recommend signing up now if you are interested as the session do tend to fill-up quickly (at least at my local store).

Valentine's Building Workshop

Both Lowe's and Home Depot offer building workshops for kids. The next workshop for each will is well suited to the February Valentine's Day holiday.

Both stores offer their workshop for free. Lowe's Build and Grow Workshops require signup as they are limited in the number of slots available at each store. Unfortunately my store seems to fill-up very quickly.

On Saturday, February 2 from 9a-noon kids can build a Valentine Card Holder at Home Depot.

On Saturday, February 9 at 10a kids can build a Wheel of Love. Sign up now if you are interested. My local store is already out of slots for this project (although we can drive across town).

Last spring I took my daughter to a Build and Grow workshop at Lowe's and she really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we have not returned because the store closest to us usually has their slots filled quickly. By the time I know our schedule and remember to check their website, they are often full.

Disney Junior Premiere of Sofia the First

Disney is introducing a new Princess, Sofia the First, an animated show that will air on the Disney Channel as part of their Disney Junior preschool programming.

The series will premiere on Friday, January 11 at 9:30a/8:30a Central. You can download a Premier party kit from the Disney Junior website. The Premier Party Kit includes a tiara and crown kit, breakfast ideas, and more. The website also has a series of coloring pages available. The next episode will air the following Friday.

My daughter loved the Disney Junior (or Playhouse Disney shows as they were called when she was younger). At 7 she is starting to outgrow the Disney Junior shows. However, at almost 5 and 3, my nieces are looking forward to the series.

Make a Valentine for FREE!

Your kids can get a headstart on making their Valentine's cards at Michaels Stores on Saturday, January 26.

The FREE event is on Saturday, January 26 from 10a-noon. They may have so much fun that they will decide to make their own Valentine's for their class.
