DohVinci & My Little Pony Pop Events at Toys R Us Tomorrow

Toys R Us is having a FREE DohVinci Decorating Event on Saturday, August 9 from noon-2p at all locations. You and a friend can decorate a picture frame with DohVinci.

Have you heard about DohVinci yet? It is a new product from PlayDoh. DohVinci comes in squeezable tubes with different tips and will harden overnight allowing you to keep your creations. My fellow Michigan Blogger, Mom Among Chaos, had a review of DohVinci last week.

I suggest arriving early as they sometimes run out of materials for popular events. My local store will often have a line for the event about 10 minutes before it begins.

In addition, you will have a chance to check out the new My Little Pony Pop toys. These toys allow you to customize the ponies.

LEGO Movie Building Event at Toys R Us

My daughter has been eagerly awaiting the LEGO® Movie since last summer.  She is so excited that it is finally coming out on Friday. She has already requested to go see it Friday night and no other activity has convinced her to delay until Saturday night.

Saturday afternoon, Toys R Us stores nationwide will have the LEGO® Movie Building Event from noon-2p. Kids will have the chance to build Emmet's car from the movie. There will be a raffle to enter by 2p for a chance to win LEGO® prizes and toys.

The event is designed for children ages 5 and up with a limit of 1 build per child. However, they never turned my daughter away when she was younger than the recommended age.

We have attended many events at Toys R Us over the years. We have had mixed experiences. Sometimes we have shown up at the start time to find they have just started setting up. Other times, we have arrived 30 minutes into the event and found that they had run out of supplies. For an event that my daughter is really interested in (like this one), we will typically arrive a few minutes early to be sure that we are there before materials run out.

Ultimate Wish Saturdays at Toys R Us

Halloween is over, so now it's time to turn towards Christmas.

Every Saturday from November 2-23, Toys R Us stores will be holding Ultimate Wish Saturday. There will be FREE activities and giveaways. You can enter by 1p each day for a holiday raffle to win a $100  gift card that day.

They are also offering a Wish List Promotion. You can build your child's Wish List online or use the Wish List Wizard from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once you build your child's list and make $100 of purchases before November 30, you will receive a $10 gift card valid December 12, 2013-April 30, 2014.

LEGO Bricktober at Toys R Us

October is LEGO Bricktober month. Toys R Us will be having a special Bricktober event this weekend.

Saturday, October 19 from noon-2p they will have "A Super Event for Every Hero". Participants will build a FREE LEGO DC Super Heroes The Joker Mini Mech Bot. The event is geared towards kids ages 5 and up and requires parental supervision during the event. Materials are limited, so I suggest arriving early. We have attended some events where they have run out of materials in the first half-hour.


All day Saturday, Toys R Us is offering the following gifts with purchase (while supplies last):

LEGO Friends Build a Frame Event

Toys R Us Stores will be holding a LEGO Friends Build a Frame Event on Saturday, September 28 from noon-2p.

Attendees will be able to build a FREE LEGO Friends pictures frame. I suggest arriving early since we have had Toys R Us Stores run out of materials for some events.

Thomas Play Date at Toys R Us Stores

Toys R Us will be hosting a Thomas Play Date at all of their stores on Saturday, September 14 from 11a-1p.

The Thomas Play Date will include story time, fun activities, and special savings. We have found that Toys R Us can sometimes run low on materials for events, so I suggest arriving early.

LEGO Chima Toys R Us Event

On Saturday, July 27 Toys R Us stores across the US will be having a Build Your Own Speedorz Challenge Event. The event runs from noon-2p.

During the event kids can build an exclusive LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz.

They will be giving out coupons for 25% off of a LEGO Game at the event. My daughter has several LEGO games and loves them. We definitely recommend LEGO Games.

LEGO City Police Car Build at Toys R Us

Toys R Us and LEGO are teaming up for a FREE LEGO City Police Car Building Event.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 15 from noon-2p at all Toys R Us Locations. The event is for children ages 5 and up while supplies last. We have attended Toys R Us events where they run out of materials, so I definitely recommend arriving early.

LEGO Star Wars Event at Toys R Us

Saturday is May 4, which Star Wars Fans celebrate as "May the Fourth Be With You". Toys R Us stores are holding a LEGO Star Wars event in honor of the day.

From noon-2p on Saturday, May 4 kids can visit Toys R Us and build an exclusive mini-version of Jek-14's Steath Starfighter which will be featured on The Yoda Chronicles which will be airing on The Cartoon Network beginning on May 29 at 8p.

We will definitely be tuning in for the new series. We are hoping to fit the Toys R Us building event into our weekend plans. If you are planning to attend, I recommend arriving early as supplies may be limited.

Thomas Playdate at Toys R Us

Toys R Us will be holding a Thomas Playdate on Saturday, March 16 from 11a-1p.

During the Thomas Playdate, they typically will have story time, games, and activities. We have attended a variety of events at our local Toys R Us. We have found that it can be helpful to arrive early in the event to make sure they have enough materials available.

LEGO Chima Challenge at Toys R Us

Beginning at the end of December LEGO started releasing their new 2013 sets, including the new LEGO Legends of Chima line. Just yesterday, my daughter pulled out her new LEGO Catalog and is once again reading over it.

On Saturday, Toys R Us will be having a LEGO Chima Challenge and a sneak peek of the new Cartoon Network series "Legends of CHIMA" which will begin airing this summer.

LEGO Creationary Challenge

Since my daughter loves both LEGO and games, LEGO Games are a perfect combination for her.

Toys R Us is having a LEGO Creationary Challenge on Saturday, October 20 from noon-2p in all stores. I recommend arriving early before the event gets too crowded.


We attended a LEGO Family Creation Challenge at Toys R Us in June 2010. My daughter loved trying to build the creation and have me guess which it was. At the time we attended the event, she was 4 and needed help from dad to build her creation. Now at almost 7 she should be able to build it herself.

We have since bought the LEGO Creationary Game and my daughter enjoys playing it. She also loves playing LEGO Creationary on her iPod Touch or the iPad. There is also LEGO Halloween Creationary which is perfect for this time of year.

I am marking our calendar for the LEGO Creationary Challenge at Toys R Us.

Nickelodeon Activity Day

Toys R Us stores nationwide will be having a Nickelodeon Activity Day on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from noon-2p.

At the Nickelodeon Activity Day, kids will have the chance to design their own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mask, solve an exciting SpongeBob mystery and more.

The event is designed for kids ages 3 and up. All event materials and giveaways are while supplies last.  Parents must remain with their children during the event.

Beyblade Event at Toys R Us

Toys R Us Stores nationwide will be having a Beyblade Event on Saturday, October 6 from noon-2p. At the event kids will have the chance to check out the latest Beyblade tops and to prepare them for battle.

The Beyblade Tournament is for chldren ages 8 and up. Any event giveaways or materials are while supplies last. I have found that it is best to plan to be there when the event starts as they do sometimes run out of materials.

LEGO Bricktober at Toys R Us

Every October, LEGO celebrates Bricktober.

Toys R Us stores nationwide will be having a LEGO Bricktober event on Saturday, October 27 from noon-2p.

At LEGO Bricktober, attendees will work together to build a LEGO Monster Fighters spooky city. They will also receive a FREE LEGO Monster Fighters accessory pack. LEGO Bricktober is intended for kids ages 5 and up.

I have had mixed experiences with Toys R Us events. Sometimes they do not order enough supplies, so I recommend arriving at the start of the event.

My daughter and husband want to get some of the LEGO Monster Fighter sets to use a Halloween decorations.

Toys R Us 3D Easter Adventure - Sat April 16 from noon-2p

Join Toys R Us on Saturday, April 16 from noon-2p for 3D Easter Adventure featuring Crayola. They will have fun activities and giveaways. All giveaways are while supplies last and there is a limit of one per child.

I recommend attending the event early. When we attended their Christmas event which included cookies to decorate, they had run out of cookies 30 minutes into a 3 hour event. I hope they have learned from this and ordered a larger supply of materials.

Are you a Toys R Us Kid? It's Geoffrey's Birthday, Celebrate on Saturday, Sept 25

Toys R Us will be celebrating Geoffrey's birthday on Saturday, September 25 from noon-3pm. There will be free giveaways, great activities, and fun parades every half hour starting at 12:30pm.

While you are at, check out some of the great sales for Geoffrey's birthday. They have buy 2, get the 3rd free on items such as Barbie, Zhu Zhu Pets, Hasbro Games, Lego Sets, Leap Frog Toys, $19.99 and under video games, Fisher-Price Imaginext Toys, Thomas Trains, Little People, PlayDoh, Melissa & Doug, Calico Critters, books, and more.

The Hasbro Games are a particularly good deal with Monopoly, Sorry, and Scrabble all priced at $7.99 each. There are also coupons for $4 off these games. I found another coupon for $4 off of Connect 4, Operation, Guess Who, or Pictureka. I decided to buy Monopoly, Sorry, and Scrabble with 2 coupons. So for $7.98 I got three games. We will probably give my daughter Sorry for Christmas. We are going to keep Monopoly for the future since we don't have a copy. I have an old version of Scrabble, so will probably give this copy as a gift or to a toy drive at the holidays.

Thomas Playdate at Toys R Us - Saturday 9/11 11a-1p

Toys R Us is hosting a Thomas & Friends Playdate on Saturday, September 11 from 11a-1p. They will have FREE Giveaways, story time, and coloring fun.

While you are at Toys "R" Us, checkout their baby trade in sale. By trading in your old baby equipment, you will receive 25% off of select baby gear. This would be great if your child is about to change car seats or you need some new equipment for a younger child.

They also have some good sales going on such as the Buy One, Get One 50% off on Lego City sets. My daughter loves these sets.

Lego Family Creation Challenge - Playdate Review

Today we went to the Lego Family Creation Challenge at our local Toys R Us. The intent of the play date was to promote interest in the new Lego Games line, particularly Creationary. They had two tables set up, one where children were given a sheet of Lego Games stickers and could build any Lego creation they wanted from plain bricks. They were able to take their creation and the stickers home. The other table was setup for a chance to stump their parent by building an object they were shown a picture of. For example, my daughter was shown a picture of a Lego snake and after one look she had to build the snake and I had to guess what she had built.

My daughter had a lot of fun at the event. She loved getting to put stickers on her creation. She insisted on waiting in line for the creation challenge. I did feel that they could have been setup for higher capacity. They had 6 slots for the Family Creation challenge & 5 for the make it/take it. We arrived a little before noon & shopped for a while. A couple of minutes before noon we saw a line had formed, so we got in line. We were able to be the first group to do the free form creation, but then had to wait in line for the creation challenge.

The Lego Games do look interesting, but are mostly geared for older children. Most had a minimum age of 7 or 8. I have told my daughter that I will make our own version of this game by giving her pictures of things to build (a boat, a bench, a snake, etc). Considering that we already have a fair number of plain pieces, this is a much more economical way to make a game.

Of course, we did not walk out of Toys R Us empty-handed. They had a bin of sale Lego items. We found a Castle Building Set, a Pirate Building Set, and a Fire Fighter Building Set each marked down from $11.99 to $5.99. She has already built her Fire Fighter set. This set is really cool in that it comes with a little fire flame and a jet of water for the fire hose. Each set also includes a mini-figure which is one of her favorite things to play with.
