Survive Amazon's Pre-Holiday Scrooge Move

Ugh, it's not even Halloween and I am starting to receive all these great Holiday deals...cards, toys, gift ideas, recipes, etc. I wish we could hold off on Christmas deals until at least November. But, hey maybe you have a child's birthday in November and can take advantage of the early holiday toy deals. We celebrate Christmas with my husband's family when we see them over Thanksgiving, so I do need to start some shopping now. I also have extra shopping to do as my daughter's birthday falls during the Christmas season.

And counter to the holiday deal trends, Amazon has a scrooge deal. They have raised the minimum on FREE Super Saver Shipping to $35 from $25. Fortunately we are Amazon Prime members, so this has a minimal impact on our family. Personally, I love having Amazon Prime. I find that I no longer overbuy in an effort to meet the minimum of Super Saver Shipping. I also was unable to take advantage of many of the Lightning Deals since they did not hit the shipping minimum. We also use the streaming video several times a month. They have a great selection of PBS and Nickelodeon shows for the young kids including Dinosaur Train, Dora the Explorer, Wonder Pets, and many more. You can try Amazon Prime with a 30 day free trial. After that it is $79/year. An affordable way to try Amazon Prime shipping for the holidays is through Amazon Mom. Amazon Mom subscribers receive a 3 month free trial of Amazon Prime, 20% off diaper and wipe Subscribe and Save orders, and 20% off a total of 5 family essential Subscribe & Save orders. Note with the 3 month Amazon Mom trial, you will only receive the Prime Shipping benefits and not the video streaming or free books through the Kindle Owners Lending Library. After your 3 month trial, you can purchase Amazon Prime for $79/year and have full access to all of the Amazon Prime benefits.

Amazon's Holiday Toy List has Lightning deals on toys each day. Today's items include:

All times listed are in Eastern time. (Note - Amazon lists their times in Pacific time, I have adjusted to the Easter time zone).

Christmas Time - Deals on Building Toys

Time to start your Christmas shopping!

Today's Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day is Select K'Nex, Lincoln Logs, & Tinker Toys at 50% off. I am definitely considering one or two of the sets for my daughter. She loves building with LEGO and is enthralled with roller coasters, so I'm leaning towards either the K'NEX Atomic Coaster or the K'NEX Star Shooter Coaster.

The deal also includes Angry Birds K'nex sets including Angry Birds King Pig Castle - Amazon Exclusive and the K'NEX Angry Birds Christmas Advent Calendar. We already have last year's LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar bought on clearance, so I think we'll skip the Angry Birds calendar (she likes Star Wars more than Angry Birds).

Lalaloopsy TV Show airs on Nick on Fridays

Does your child love Lallaloopsy? My daughter never developed an interest, but a few of her friends did.

I just found out from Nickelodeon's Facebook page that they began airing a new Lalaloopsy television show on March 29. Lalaloopsy airs on Nickelodeon at 1:30p on Fridays.

There are also several Webisodes available online through nickjr.com or YouTube:

You can find the webisodes on my Lalaloopsy PlayList on YouTube

$10 off of My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, Littlest Pet Shop, & Baby Alive at Amazon.com

Amazon.com is offering $10 off Hasbro Girls Toys through Friday, July 16. You will need to spend a minimum of $30 from the selected list and it must be an item fulfilled through Amazon.com and not a third party.

These toys include Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop, and Baby Alive Merchandise. There are a few items on the list that my daughter has that I want to recommend.

My Little Pony Ponyville Feature Playset
My daughter asked for the My Little Pony Gumball House for Christmas. Prior to asking, she was back and forth as to which size of ponies she wanted (the small Ponyville, or the larger ponies). She loves her gumball house. The house comes with one figure - Sweetie Belle, the unicorn. It comes with a number of accessories. My main complaint is that there are open windows that the accessories fall out of when stored inside. The music from the "elevator" can also get a little annoying.

My Little Pony Ponyville Ferris Wheel Playset
After Christmas, she had returned some duplicate items and used her credit to buy the Ponyville Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel comes with a single figure, Pinkie Pie. She really likes putting all of her ponies in here and sending them for a ride. We did find that the ponies had to be placed in the cars facing a certain direction or the weight of their heads would tip them out of the cars. The music can be annoying, but my daughter loves the Ferris Wheel (Probably helps that she loves going on rides).

Strawberry Shortcake Splash-n-Petal PoolRecently, my daughter has been into water toys. Grandma just bought her the Strawberry Shortcake Splash-n-Petal Pool. The pool comes with a Strawberry Shortcake figure. The pool has a slide, a picnic bench with umbrella and a flower shower that you pump yourself. The toy takes no batteries (a very good thing for a water toy). The set even comes with a towel for Strawberry Shortcake and a place to hang it on the outside. The Strawberry Shortcake doll has a large hat which does not stay on her head that well and causes her to tip off of the slide. Other than that, we really like this toy.

As long as all of the toys you select are eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping, you will get the offer even if the final price after the credit is under $25 since the pre-discounted price is over $30. Make sure you select the Free Super Saver Shipping option since standard shipping is the default.
